An ode to the Women Who Run With the Wolves, HOWLER is a celebration and activation of righteous rage, sensuality, and protecting the sovereignty of the Divine Feminine through The Empress card in the Tarot. With a massive dose of no fucks given, it’s a call to action to take no shit from anyone attempting (in any way) to rule over our bodies and our souls.
It started as a riff that my guitarist, Kirt , sent me on a voice note. Then I met Adaline in Hamburg at the Reeperbahn Festival — a fest that happens in the red light district on a major street that doesn’t sleep. We were playing the same showcase, saw each other perform and became enamoured. We said the usual songwriter pleasantry, “Let’s wrote a song together” — and with the riff in my voice notes, a bit of a hazy brain from the night before, we wrote the song the next day.
We wrote this song about standing in our power as women, claiming and declaring autonomy over our bodies in the face of the systems (government, media, society) in place that attempt to say or rule otherwise.
While this was written for the Wise Wild Women as a reminder to stand firm in our sovereignty — we all come from and through the Divine Feminine and sovereignty is a birthright for all human beings. Period.
