Massive thanks to everyone who helped make the album happen from my partner in life/manager to my viking producer, recording/mix and master engineers extraordinaire, to all of the incredibly talented co-writers, to the musicians that heart fully blazed, to the singers that destroyed every mf vocal, to the visual creative team, and finally, to every being who has listened, loved, become a Warrior and has fucked with me since.

#longpostalert⚠️ lately, you’re not getting a lot of music or content from me. i’m working on getting out of my own way for me to share more. seems i’m always working on that. so i stay a wip [work-in-progress] — not a bad thing. what you are getting from me, is me & my mf kettlebells. you’re either sick of them, don’t get them, don’t care or you’re fascinated/terrified by them — i’m in the latter hah.

i’m encouraging myself to celebrate my wins, which motivates me to push a little harder, but i also set myself up/intimidate my own self. anytime i’m focusing my practice in physical/bodywork, i learn so much about the stories i’ve told or keep telling myself. my habits lay themselves at my feet, rather, glare at me in the mirror. ugh. reckoning with thy self-esteem is one helluva lesson in being human.

whew. and this is the process i’m experiencing every time i pick up a kettlebell, i’m met with the good, bad, ugly & beautiful of life. sometimes i show up ready to go, other times, kicking & screaming ready to get the fuck out.

yesterday’s session kicked my ass. i was struggling to be there, playing failure in my mind despite visualizing my success. i reeeeeally wanted to push that 24kg up for one rep, but today was not the day. not ready? i guess not. frustrated & hard on myself? fuck yes. i actually shed tears, nearly threw myself into a dramatic tantrum and a spiral down to mean girl bullying myself that i wasn’t strong (higher self: i am), that i wasn’t progressing (higher self: i am). working out is emotional for me, always has been. it unlocks some tenderness, compassion, grace in me. the hard & soft warrior.

so, when i finally got out of my way, my wins were: for the first time, i did the press ladder 1-2-3-4-5 twice, with 20kg!!

so i’m celebrating:
showing up
consistency/perseverance
shooting my shot
facing challenges
shifting my own narrative
proving to my visionary girl right + my mean girl wrong
staying focused/eyes on the goal

this spills into how i show up in the world as human and artist.

lesson: failure is actually an option, it’s quitting that isn’t.

i am (perpetually) a work in progress. 🖤💣🤲🏾
